Meet Anderson and Bucky. Anderson is a first time home owner and boy did he score a great “starter house”. Recently renovated, the house was completely updated including new appliances and bathrooms. With the exception of the wall color, it was move-in ready. Like most new homes, or newly renovated homes, each wall in the space was painted in decorator’s white, a simple color that coordinates well with most everything yet lacks any real character. Naturally, when Anderson came to me for help, I jumped at the opportunity.
I started by giving Anderson an inspiration board that fit the personality of the home, as well as the man who would be living there. Based on his lifestyle and interests, I thought a nice grey, blue, and yellow color scheme would work well. This way, he could leave the decorator’s white in the kitchen and a few other areas while maintaining a natural flow of color throughout the home.
Foyer/ Upstairs Hall: Benjamin Moore Grey Owl
Master Bedroom: Benjamin Moore Mt. Rainer Grey
Upstairs Bathroom: Benjamin Moore Summer Shower
Back Hall and Mudroom: Benjamin Moore Grey Timberwolf
I love the nautical details found throughout the home. Some were here when Anderson moved in, others he has added himself.
A collection of maritime charts and a hand made cork boarder for his dart board are just a few of the details that reflect the homeowner’s personality. Now this home can be more than just a place to hang his hat.
